The G8 Summit
Groovy, the dynamic JVM language, brings much needed relief to Java developers. First Groovy made it easier to work with all of the existing Java libraries and frameworks that are out there, but it also has inspired a community of passionate developers to come up with new tools to help us build better applications in less time and with more joy! We'll introduce you to eight Groovy tools for your toolbox!
We’ll look at:
Groovy, just a brief intro to the language that makes it all possible.
Grails, the full stack web application development framework. It has never been this easy to build Java based web applications.
Griffon, the Groovy way to build rich internet applications and stand-alone desktop applications.
Gradle, a powerful, flexible, and best of all easy-to-use build framework. More powerful than Ant and Ivy; more fun than Maven.
Gaelyk, perhaps the fastest way to build applications on Google’s App Engine. Use groovlets and Groovy templates to launch your apps in the cloud.
GPars, the Groovy concurrency library inspired by techniques found in Scala and Clojure.
Geb, the page based testing framework that is taking the web development world by storm
Spock, ok, so it doesn't start with a G, but it is the logical choice for writing specification tests for your Groovy Groovy and Java code.
