The ABCs of RDF Vocabularies

RDF is one of the lower level technologies of the Semantic Web. We use it to describe and connect information on both our public and private Webs. Everyone enjoys using Dublin Core, FOAF, Creative Commons and other existing RDF vocabularies, but how do you go about writing your own? And why would you want to?

This talk will be an introduction to what goes into creating a domain-specific vocabulary that is usable by humans and machines alike. We will start from scratch to create a simple vocabulary that gets progressively more sophisticated and ready for use. We will also borrow terms from other vocabularies to show how you can extend concepts across domains where it makes sense.
