Natural Language Processing II

Language is an important feature of what defines humanity (although other species use forms of language too!). It is a way for us to communicate even very complex ideas with others, but it is difficult to use it to communicate with software systems. Natural Language Processing (NLP) is an established field that goes back to the 1950s, but there have been a series of advancements and plateaus that have kept it from being as useful as possible.

Recent advancements are changing what is possible, however, and we are finding ourselves more able to ask for what we want from software without bending to its needs. As a result, we often get what we want.

We will cover Transformer-based Architectures and the emergence of Large Language Models such as ChatGPT.

This workshop will help you get started in adding NLP features to your software systems.
