Groovy After All These Years

In this Q&A session, you can have your questions answered about what it is like to build a mission critical application for a Fortune 500 company using Groovy. We'll also cover issues about what it's been like to to support and maintain a Groovy application that's been in production for over seven years!

In 2005, a team at Mutual of Omaha selected Groovy for building a mission critical group insurance pricing engine. At the time, this was one of the largest commercial uses of Groovy. Scott Hickey, the technical lead on the project, will review why Groovy was selected, the role Spring & Groovy played in the project, and what the concerns were at the time. Then he'll discuss what has happened over last the seven years since the application has been in production. He'll cover topics such as maintenance, language stability, tooling, testing, staffing and expanding Groovy’s reach at Mutual of Omaha beyond this project.
