Docker Workshop

Docker is a revolution in both software delivery and technology infrastructure. Docker truly bridges the gap between these two often disparate entities in large enterprises. Under the Apache 2 license, the full power of Docker can also be leveraged by smaller organizations to enable a seamless Continuous Delivery pipeline.

This workshop will demonstrate how to run a simple Java web application through the entire CD pipeline. Each step of the pipeline will be processed by a separate Docker container. You will learn the following

  • The Basics of Docker Internals
  • How to package your own software into a Docker image
  • How to leverage pre-built Docker images on Docker Hub
  • How to package off the shelf solutions into a Docker image
  • How to orchestrate your ecosystem using Docker Compose
  • How to convince your boss that you should be using Docker

About Korey Earl

Korey wrote his first line of code at age 12 (which was a very long time ago) in Quick Basic. Since then, he has obtained a CS Degree from TCU, strung miles of network cables, fixed a bunch of desktops and servers, built several enterprise IT systems, and worked on enterprise .NET and Java applications.

Korey currently works at ThoughtWorks where he spends his time creating software for clients, ranting about the save icon, and working on random IOT projects. He has three young daughters and a very supportive wife, Ginger, who puts up with his robotics obsession.
