Save the fairies - No Fluff Just Stuff

Save the fairies

Posted by: Craig Walls on December 12, 2007

Still nothing terribly new, but Rod did mention Spring Security 2.0, and I thought I'd chime in to say that what I've seen so far rocks!

The Acegi chapter in my book was, by far, the hardest chapter to write because while Acegi is wonderfully powerful, it is extremely complex to configure. The amount of XML needed to do basic security tasks is staggering. So even though I liked Acegi, I hated to write about it...I just didn't feel good including all of that XML in a printed book. I don't know if Acegi kills fairies or not, but it certainly is responsible for the demise of a few trees.

I'm looking forward to saving lines of XML, fairies, and trees with the new Spring Security 2.0 framework. Watch this blog to see me write (hopefully in brief form) my adventures in Spring Security 2.0.
