Spring IDE for Eclipse - No Fluff Just Stuff

Spring IDE for Eclipse

Posted by: Craig Walls on May 24, 2004

I've been playing around a bit with the Spring IDE for Eclipse plugin. Really excellent stuff. The most impressive piece is the way it generates a graphical representation of my application beans.

But, it's not quite perfect. Here's my wish-list:

  • Ability to drag-n-drop components in the graphical view to arrange them however I want them arranged.
  • Ability to export graphical view to GIF, BMP, or EPS.
  • I want to see auto-wired relationships, too. Maybe a dotted line or some other notation to know that they're auto-wired.
  • Constructor-injected relationships as well.
  • Maybe some way to graphically represent aspects and what beans/methods they advise.

Even without all of this, it's a really cool tool for Spring. I'm wondering: Can I use this together with Spring Console? Hmmmm...too bad I'm really tired tonight.
