Griffon 1.0.0 is out!

Posted by: Andres Almiray on June 10, 2012

I'm happy to announce the immediate availability of Griffon 1.0.0!

The team worked round the clock to make sure the release was ready for Gr8conf EU 2012 (and it was!). Søren captured the moment with this pic

Following are the slides used during the presentation

This release marks a very important milestone as it coincides with the release of Griffon in Action. Both projects became intertwined in their early days, and now, they both have gone golden. In terms of features, Griffon 1.0.0 has added the ability for certain plugins to be installed at the framework level (i.e, global plugins). This makes it easier to apply buildtime concerns to all projects for example (like the Git or JRebel plugins). There are of course bug fixes and other improvements. Full release notes are located here.

There are also two new sample applications that show Griffon and JavaFX working together. The first one is GroovyFXPad, an exploratory tool for JavaFX in the same way as SwingPad is for Swing. The second one is FxBrowser which is a trivial web browser based on JavaFX's WebView component.

What's in store for Griffon's future? Now that 1.0.0 is finally out we can concentrate in bringing GORM and scaffolding features to Griffon, however if you require persistence support and can't wait until the team finishes these tasks then have a look at the 29 different options we have at the moment.

Keep on Groovying!
