I'm impressed by the community's reaction looking back to the events occurred during Griffon's first year
- Geertjan Wielenga hacked the NetBeans Grails plugin to support Griffon 24 hrs of the announcement of the first release, making NetBeans the first IDE that boasted Griffon support. He came back to it a few days before JavaOne 09 started, the fruit of his labor could be seen by attendees at the Sun booth and some Groovy related talks and BOFs!
- According to the buzz heard on the hallways, Groovy/Grails/Griffon were hot topics during JavaOne 2009
- Not to be left behind, we recently learned that JetBrains is working on Griffon support for IDEA.
- The Griffon team grew when Jim Shingler and Josh A. Reed joined the fray.
- Griffon has managed to capture the attention of the Groovy community, it has been featured in several JUG/GUG meetings and conferences.
- In terms of components, the Griffon codebase grew from 4 builders up to the current 10. Even JavaFx is supported in some way.
- There are currently 24 plugins. That number is rising steadily as time progresses.
- The polyglot programming revolution also influenced Griffon. I'm happy to say that Griffon supports 5 JVM languages: Groovy, Java, Clojure, Scala and JavaFx Script.
- A book about the framework, Griffon in Action, is scheduled to be released early next year.
Keep on Groovying!
