Report from SpringHispano's first meeting
Posted by: Andres Almiray on August 7, 2008
We had a good number of attendees (+20) considering it was the first meeting, half of the audience already had experience with dynamic languages like JavaScript, Perl or PHP (no Ruby, Python, Smalltalk I believe, but that didn't hinder them in any way) so most of the topics discussed were fairly familiar. Here is the presentation material
I always like the "aha!" reaction of the audience when showing HelloWorld.java turned into HelloWorld.groovy :D The Q&A session at the end of the presentation was pretty good. After the session we shared a light dinner (lasagna + salad) and had a very interesting talk, truly the community spirit was felt that night.
Both Ixchel and I are grateful and happy for this opportunity, reaching out talented, knowledge-hungry developers and community building are the main drivers for these kind of sessions, based on the comments made by attendees the meeting was a great success, Excelsior!
Domingo has posted his own report here and some pictures taken during the meeting. We wish the best to the SpringHispano community (they already have scheduled a second meeting!) and look forward to attending a future meeting.
Keep on Groovying!
