Groovy @ EclipseCon - No Fluff Just Stuff

Groovy @ EclipseCon

Posted by: Andres Almiray on March 19, 2008

I gave my Groovy talk yesterday at EclipseCon, which I think turned out to be a good experience, surely I wasn't expecting to have the room completely packed with people :-) Most of the audience had a great background in other dynamic/scripting languages like Python, Perl and JavaScript (some Ruby) so most of the cool features were fairly known, that is until we reached Groovy's unique features as GPath and the Elvis operator (the coolest operator ever so far, people do like Elvis!).

During the short time I spent at the conference I gathered that even though it is a big conference it is rather easy to stop and chat with your peers and meet new people, which is really difficult at JavaOne, I look forward to spending more time in the remaining days.

I'm very thankful to the Eclipsecon committee for enabling this space to help spread the word on Groovy, and to all attendees on my talk I say "you have taken the red pill, be happy in the jvm, be Groovy".

Keep on Groovying!
