WingSBuilder 1.0 released - No Fluff Just Stuff

WingSBuilder 1.0 released

Posted by: Andres Almiray on December 8, 2007

Now that Groovy 1.5 has been released I'm ready to announce that WingSBuilder has been upgraded to Groovy 1.5 and WingS 3.1, moving out of snapshot status and graduating to 1.0

Wings is a web application framework based on Java Servlets, resembling the Swing API with its MVC paradigm and event oriented design principles. It utilizes the models, events, and event listeners of Swing. Like in Swing, components are arranged in a hierarchy of containers, whose root container is hooked to a frame.

WingSBuilder will let you create Wings apps in the same fashion SwingBuilder lets you create swing apps. Even though Wings supports incremental updates thanks to AJAX it is not yet possible to do binding (requires PropertyChangeSupport on wingS components and server push), probably in a later release. You'll find that both builder share many node names thus enabling an easy transition from swing to Wings.

Keep on Groovying!
