import groovy.lang as TheRedPill - No Fluff Just Stuff

import groovy.lang as TheRedPill

Posted by: Andres Almiray on December 7, 2007

Recently gave a talk to my co-workers about Groovy, looking for a closure statement it suddenly hit me: "You have taken the Red pill, there is no way back". And by that I don't mean you'll be trapped in a post-apocalyptic world, dressed in rags, eating bad-looking protein-based icky stuff, fleeing from the static-typed compiler (see why super powers were needed?). Ahem back on topic, what I mean is that once you get a glimpse on how Groovy can help you on your everyday work without having to
  • wander outside the JVM
  • forfeit your Java knowledge
  • abandon the java APIs you have come to love (and hate)
  • use Java-like syntax
then there is no turning back. The nagging feeling that you can do better code and have more free time will be there. The feeling that coding in Java (through Groovy, or with Groovy alongside) is fun will be there too. Read the facts, ask around, do some code prototyping, take the pill :)

Keep on Groovying!
