About this Presentation

This session will cover all the need to know points of writing a real time web application today. Topics will include:

  • Using WebSockets (without a framework) from the ground up
  • Browser support and fallbacks
  • Mobile device battery usage and best practices for preservation

We'll take a look at a live web app running in production and examine the pitfalls and pluses of using real time data. This session will also review JavaScript code and how it is executed in the browser over a WebSocket connection in RPC fashion. Everything from stress testing custom JavaScript events, to securing and tracking data sent over a WebSocket connection.
