XAP (eXtensible AJAX Platform) allows the creation of AJAX applications using declarative syntax and provides a robust framework for event handling, messaging and extensibility. This presentation will provide an overall introduction to the XAP project and give attendees an understanding of the project's structure and capabilities. Highlights include step by step creation of a XAP application.

Concepts to be covered will include:
Getting Started – Overview of project structure and XAP bootstrapping process.
XML UI Structure – Using XAP’s XML syntax for creating applications.
Event Handling – Connecting widget events to business logic on either the client or server.
XAP eXtension – Introduction on the XAP extension mechanism.

Bob Buffone

Chief Architect @ Nexaweb

Bob Buffone, Chief Architect, is responsible for platform and tool technology at Nexaweb Technologies Inc, a provider of the Nexaweb Platform enabling enterprise class rich Internet applications (RIAs). Bob is also a committer on the Apache XAP project (http://incubator.apache.org/xap) which provides an extensible framework for declaratively creating AJAX applications. Before Nexaweb Bob was with Trakus, a technology company focused on tracking sports in real time. Bob possesses deep experience and background with Java and Windows technologies and is a leading expert in User Interface design. Bob is a regular speaker at industry events such as JavaOne, Server-Side Symposium, EclipseCon and AjaxWorld and has published multiple articles on tool and application development
